The New York Times about my one minute animation

In today's Paper Cuts, the New York Times book blog, there is a nice write-up about my one minute animation, commissioned by Electric Literature and based on a sentence by Lydia Millet: "Sometimes he wished he could gather all the dogs he loved most and walk off the end of the world with them.”

I Feel Very Urgent About This Film

Little Burn Films is Michael Kimball and I when we make films together. We have a new website (courtesy of the incomparable Tita Chico) with stills and trailers and other stuff. Check it out: www.littleburnfilms.com

I started working on film with Michael Kimball in 2008. The first project was a trailer for his novel Dear Everybody. The trailer became a 9 minutes short film (watch it here). In Dear Everybody there is a shot of Michael's hands pulling the feathers out of a pillow, a visual transcription of a line from the novel: "Here’s the reason that I pulled the stitching out of my feather pillow and then pulled all of the feathers out of it too: I thought that I was going to find a bird."
In that shot there was already a blueprint of what would later become our first full length documentary: I WILL SMASH YOU.
Here's an outtake from I WILL SMASH YOU, where Michael talks a little bit about the genesis of the film:

I WILL SMASH YOU is finally ready to show. We have a screening set up for September 24th at the PPOW Gallery in New York City (http://www.thehostessproject.com).

If you're interested in setting up a screening of I WILL SMASH YOU in your city, email me at lucadipierro[at]yahoo[dot]it and I'll send you a DVD.

All Around My Hands There Is Darkness

I have a traveling solo exhibition in Italy. It will be hosted each moth by a different gallery, in a different city. Five shows in total. It's called All Around My Hands There Is Darkness: a selection of my paintings and drawings made between 2006 and 2009 and projections of my animations and films.

The first show is at KOBO (www.koboshop.net), in Udine, from November 14 to November 27.

Προσπάθησα να σας προειδοποιήσω και εσείς δεν στάθηκε ακούσουμε

I made this video for The New York Tyrant (the best literary magazine on paper that you can purchase, here: www.nytyrant.com). The music is by publisher/editor/writer Giancarlo DiTrapano. The barber is Kostadin. He cuts my hair once a month. I love his face.

60 WRITERS/60 PLACES

Over the last two weeks, Michael Kimball and I filmed a bunch of writers for our film 60 WRITERS/60 PLACES. We are getting close to the number sixty. Here are some of my favorite stills: Jennifer Firestone/Grocery Store, Zita Nunes/Study, Kandice Chuh/Dining Room, Colby Green/Harbor, Danielle McClammy/Parlor, Rick Moody/Baseball Field.
